From WoW 2 to Nolf 3: We would like a sequel to these games

A lot happens in the games industry these days. Authorities check the takeover of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft , Bungie makes it comfortable with Sony and the Embracer Group is the name of the Studios Crystal Dynamics, Square Enix Montreal and Eidos Montreal . Through these three deals alone, so many well-known game franchises have ended up in the hands of new responsible persons that I sail my ears out of sheer anticipation. I see the changed situations optimistic and as a great opportunity that long scorned classics will be brought from the dusty basements and continued with a worthy sequel. And if you believe the rumor mill, further deals could follow at any time - for example through Sony .

We play "Wish you a game sequel!"

Let us take the currently very turbulent times as an opportunity to discuss game brands that have deserved a sequel for a variety of reasons. We had already torn the topic very superficially when we had looked at all the Activision franchises that could soon belong to Microsoft . In addition, there was already a special on the subject in 2016: For which online role-playing game do you want a successor? Since nobody has heard our wishes in recent years, one or the other MMO will certainly appear in this article. If you find sequels per se stupid, because completely new games are always much better: My wish list for games announcements for 2021 ** is unfortunately still very topical.

Super Mario RPG: The Legend of the Seven Stars

Let's start with a game that you very probably didn't expect. In fact, Super Mario RPG: The Legend of the Seven Stars from 1996 was one of the main reasons why I bought the SNES Mini **. At that time I was still too young to get import games for the SNES. And since I only played Wii and Wii U with friends, I only enjoyed the Mini to catch up with the role -playing game of Square and Nintendo.

One could of course say that the other two role-playing series from Nintendo were created out of Super Mario RPG: Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi. Nevertheless, according to my experience with the original, I would love to play a modern sequel to the Nintendo Switch. Gladly again in collaboration with Square Enix. Maybe after completion of Final Fantasy XVI, Naoki Yoshida would like to apply his final fantasy formula to the popular plumber and the mushroom country.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 3

I am very happy that Aspyr and Lucasfilm for the Embracer Group mentioned at the beginning are currently working on a new edition of Star Wars: The Old Republic . But I hope it doesn't stay that way! Really good role-playing games in the Star Wars universe simply cannot exist enough. And if the Kotor's remake should be similar to the first part of the FFVII new edition, then Embracer could build on success and want to commission a real third part. Until it is time, we can pass the waiting time with the three new Star Wars games from respawn , keyword: Jedi: Fallen Order 2.

Silent Hill

Silent Hill: Downpour from 2012 was unfortunately only a shadow of the first games that I played up and down on the Playstation consoles at the time. After that, nothing excitingly happened with the series. And that not only I find that a shame show the countless rumors that have been speaking of a new part or a new edition for many years - certainly also heated by the P.T. -DEDO of Kojima, which caused a sensation in 2014, but after the project was terminated had to be removed again.

The current rumor relief looks like this: Blober team is supposed to work on a remake of Silent Hill 2. There is also talk of a completely new Silent Hill and a "Side Stories" spinoff. No matter what is actually announced in the end: it is only important to me that the responsible developers work out the strengths of the series and serve me a turned away horror trip, where I twitch together when the radio rush or grind something in the fog, grind or grind groan.

Portal 3, Left 4 Dead 3, Half-Life 3

Sometimes I want Valve in general and just shake and roar Newell in particular. The clever heads behind Half-Life, Portal, Left 4 Dead, Counter-Strike and Dota 2 with Steam alone occupy so much coal every year that they could literally flood us with other game highlights. Instead, they throw their wealth on technical players such as Steam Link, Steam Controller, Steam Machines, HTC Vice, Valve Index and finally Steam Deck.

In contrast, it looked very mixed on the game front in recent years.

Why Warcraft 3 NEEDS A Sequel The impressive VR game Half-Life: Alyx was able to relieve the pain a little that from Half-Life 3 there is still no trace. Otherwise there was only the card game Artifact and the auto-chess variant Dota Underlords. Due to the high quality of the predecessors, I would like to see sequels for Portal 2, Left 4 Dead 2 and Half-Life 2. Especially since the spark at Back 4 Blood did not want to skip last year.
